Stone fountains possess the characteristics of natural stone: hardness, wear resistance, and a substantial weight, while also having a rich surface texture and strong plasticity and expressiveness.

Modern techniques such as clay sculpting and mold making are employed during production, resulting in a finished surface that exhibits the weathered texture of natural stone with subtle variations in light and shadow. Stone fountain production areas include Huian in Fujian and Quyang in Hebei.
